Tirupparamkundram is at at distance of eight Kms from Madurai in Tamil Nadu. The importance of this temple is that here was celebrated the marriage of Lord Subrahmanya with the daughter of Indra, Devayanai.

Tiruchendur is situated by the seashore and the distance between Tiruchendur and Tirunelveli is 60 Kms. Muruga vanquished the demonic forces led by surapadma at Thiruchendur.  This is the unique festival in this temple.

Palani is at a distance of about 60 Kms from Dindigul in Tamil Nadu. In his Thiruppugazh, Saint Poet Arunagirinathar has composed many verses about the Palani Temple.  

Swamimalai is located at a distance of  8 Kms from Kumbakonam  on the northern banks of the river Cauvery. The Lord here presents Himself as Gurunatha who taught the  Pranava Mantra to His Father Lord Siva.

Tiruttani is prominent among them situated at a distance of 13 Kms from Arakonam and 84 Kms from Chennai. Lord Murugan fiercely fight with Surapadma at Tiruchendur, and Muruga wanted to reduce his anger. He reached Tiruttani Hill to reduce his anger that is why Tiruttani is also called as Thanigai Malai.

Palamutircolai is the 6the Padai Veedu. (Holy Temple). This is at a distance of about 20 Kms from Madurai.  This is near Alagar Koil Divyadesam.  This temple is surrounded with full of  Trees in the Hills.  

 Saravanappoigai  : Saravana Poygai is very intimately connected with Muruga Just behind the temple of Avinankudi. Muruga, is believed to have emerged from this Saravanapoigai. So, this is the special pool from the Himālayas

Like most Murugan temples, Maruthamalai Murugan temple is situated upon a   hill that is a part of the beautiful   green Western Ghats and is about 15 km from   Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India.


Kumara Vayalur

Generally known as Vayalur, is located 9 k.m. away, west of Tiruchirappalli city Lord Subramaniya swamy shrine is on the backside of the Siva's shrine. He is giving darshan with His two consorts, Sri Valli and Deivayanai. All are in a standing position

Kunnakudi is located at a distance of 14 kms from Karaikudi  The annual festivals are celebrated during Thaipoosam and PanguniUttiram. The presiding deity is the six  faced Shanmugar mounted on his peacock flanked by Valli and Deivayanai.



Viralimalai is on the bus route between Madurai and Tiruchy. It is 25 kilometers from Tiruchy and 40 kilometers northwest of Pudukottai. This temple is specially known for the peacocks that are found in plenty. The Lord is in the form of Arumugan, six-faced and with twelve hands seated elegantly on the peacock facing east. The divine consorts Valli and Deivannai stand on either side. Taippusam, Pankuni Uttiram, Kanda Sasthi and Adikrittikai are the main festivals.  This temple is specially known for the peacocks that are found in plenty. Kundrathur is 16 km far from Tambaram and 8 km from Pallavaram  The Saint Poet ‘Arunagirinathar” has visited this temple and has sung “Thiripugazh”.  The Murugan temple is situated at the top of a   hill.  Timing 6.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. The Executive Oficer, Sri Subramanyaswami Temple, Kundrathur-600 069, Kancheepuram district. Chennimalai is 26 kilometres from Erode  and The most famous temple of Lord Muruga in Coimbatore District is Chennimalai.  Lord Arunagirinathar was blessed with "Padikasu". A bullock cart with two bulls climbed the 1320 steps on their own.  Most important feature here is that the popular daily prayer of Murugan Devotees, Kanda Shasti Kavacham was first offered to the world in this temple 


Sikkal Singaravelan Temple

It is 6 km west of Nagapattinam, 18 km east of Thiruvarur  one of the most popular festivals is the.vel vangum Festival of Sura Samhaaram  The most important festival is associated with Lord Muruga getting the weapon Vel from his divine mother, Parvathi to destroy the suran. Ettukudi  Mrugan Temple

This temple is connected closely with the temples in Sikkal and Ennkann through the legend  that the images of Muruga in all three of these shrines were made by the same sculptor. He followed the instructions in his dream, and when the image was complete the king blinded him by the story  so that he could not create images any more.  The next event is to create a Statue in Engan.


Engan Murugan Temple

According to the  another dream, a third image of Muruga mounted on a peacock with the aid of a women/daughter. By this time injury upon her, the blood splashed over his eyes and the eyesight recovered.  The sculptor expressed by the way of EnKan or Engun. Hence the name of that temple. Muruga vanquished the demonic forces led by son of  surapadma  name Iranyasuran  at this Thiruvidaikazhi. The moolavar, Lord Murugan showers his blessings facing east under ThiruKura tree. Thiruvidaikazhi is situated in the enroute of Mayruam and Tharangampadi It is near by Thirukadaiyur temple - Around 5 kms


Koil Kanthangudi Murugan

Koil Kanthangudi is Located near Thirunallar  at the place of  Velankudi Checkpost  near  Kollapuram and  Peralam Route.   The saint poet , Arunagirinathar spoke about the speicality of this temple in his Thiruppugazh.  The separate temple is here for Daivayanai. Kanthan, gives the desire to understand and help the devotees. This is the specialty of the Name Kanthan.  


Vaitheeswaran Koil  Muthukumaraswamy

The auspicious days of the temple are all Tuesdays and on the Karthika star of every month. Vaitheeswaran Kovil is situated near Mayiladuthurai  The deities of the temple are Vaitheeswaran (siva) , Thaiyal Nayaki (Parvati), and Muthukumaraswamy (Subramanya Swamy). It is also a local belief that dissolving jaggery (Tamil:vellam) in the waters cures skin diseases. Kantha Sashti, a festive occasion for Subramanya, is celebrated in the shrine of Muthukumaraswamy.
