Varagur Sri Venkatesa Perumal Temple Uriyadi Festival

Varagur is a small village near Thiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur District. The Main deity is Venkatesa Perumal. Krishna Leela Tarangini is composed by Sri Narayana  Theerthar, who visit this place and got the Dharshan of this perumal with the help of Varagar(boar).  So, it is called Varagur. Varahoor Uriyadi Utsavam is the world famous two days festival of Sri Krishna Jayanthi Day (Gokulashtami). Uriyadi festival was held as part of Krishna Jayanthi celebrations at Sri Venkatesa Perumal Temple at Varagur.  “Vennaithazhi Krishnan”, “Swami Veediula with Theepandam”, “Angapradakshanam”, “Uriyaidi”, “Vazhukkumaram Eruthal” are the important event of this festival.

Mannargudi Sri Rajagopalaswamy Temple

The Mannargudi Rajagopalaswamy Temple is a Abhimana Sthalam of Vaishnav Temple. It is 1000 years old Temple.  Here is a biggest  Sacred Tank Haridra Nadhi Near Temple.  This temple is also called Dakshina Dwaraka ie, Dwaraka of South.  The stone pillar is in front of the temple. It is a unique sculpture value pillar.  The Pangudi Festival is the biggest festival of the temple which is 18 day festival.

Kattumannarkoil Sri Veera Narayanan Temple

The Kattumannarkoil Temple is near Chidambarm. The Main Deity is Veera Narayanan and the consort is Maragatha Valli Thayar.  Utsavar is Rajagopalan with Rukmini and Satyabhama.  This is the birth place of Nathamuni and Alavanthan.   Alavanthar is the grand son of Nathamunigal.   During 9thA.D, divya prabatham was not compiled. It was scattered here and there.Nathaamunikal worked in the Kattumannar koil temple and one day he head the pasuram begins with "Aara Amudhey". Naadamunigal wanted to find the rest of Paasurams. Then he went to Kumbakonam, Srirangam and got the grace of the Lord Vishnu. Finally he went to Thirukurugur and got all the pasuram with the help of Madurakavi Alwar. So, Kattumannarkoil Temple is the important temple in vaishnavisam.

Srimushnam Sri Bhoovaraha Swami Temple

Srimushnam Sri Bhoo Varahaswamy Temple  is located 35 kms from Chidambaram and about 25 kms from Vriddachalam. Lord Vishnu took the form of Varaha (a boar), killed the asura and brought back the earth on Adisesha and appeared in this place as a Swayambu idol. So, Srimushnum is one of the  Swayambu Kshetrams in India. Moolavar : Bhoo Varahaswamy Facing West and Standing Posture and Goddess :  Ambujavalli Thaayar. Temple built by Nayak Kings. Chitrai Utsavam and   Masi Maham  festial are important.   'Ashwatha tree', 'Nithya Pushkarani' and 'Bhoovaraha Swamy' are three forms of Lord Perumal resides in SriMushnam.  

Oothukadu Sri Krishnan Temple

The main deity of Oothukkadu village is Lord Veda Narayanar  and the Utsavar is Kalinga Narthana Krishnan.   It is believed that sage Naradha witnessed the Kalinga Narthanam that Lord Krishna performed in front of the divine cows Nandini and Patt who are the daughter of the divine cow Kamadhenu. One of the greatest composers in Indian music, Oothukkadu Venkata Kavi (also referred to as oothukkadu venkata subba iyer) is said to have lived between 1700-65 in the village Oothukadu near Kumbakonam.  "Thaye Yasodha," Alai Payudhe Kanna,"  are the famous songs of Venakata Kavi . The Krishna Jayanthi  Uriyadi Festival is a famous festival of this temple.

Thillaivilagam Sri Ramar Temple

Sri Kothandaramar Temple at Thillaivilagam is near Tiruthuraipoondi. It is 20 Kms from Thiruturaipoondi.  It is regarded as the place of Bharadwaja Maha Rishi, a renowned saint of the Vedic period. It is believed that Lord Ram landed here while he was returning to Ayodhya after  winning Ravana. Major point of attraction here is the famous Kothandaramar Temple. Thillaivilagam is 46 Kms from Thiruvarur and can be reached by bus.  Sri Rama Navami Festival is the important festival of this Thillaivilagam Ramar Temple.

Vaduvur Sri Ramar Temple

Vaduvur Temple is situated in a small village, between Thanjavur and Mannargudi in Tamil Nadu  and 15 kms from Tanjavur . The main deity, Sri Kodhandaramar along with Sri Seetha, Lakshmanar and Hanuman appear in ‘Thirukalyana Kolam.  When Rama spent 14 years in the forest and was preparing to leave for Ayodhya, the saints asking him to stay with them. But Rama created His own enchanting divine form as a deity and left it outside the ashrama. Next day the saints came and saw the beautiful deity.  It is the replica of the Ramar. He is more happy and keep this deity with them.   So, the is the Beautiful deity in this Vaduvur temple. It is said Kanva Maharishi worshipped in this temple and was blessed with the darshan of Sri Kodandaramar. 

Adambar Sri Ramar Temple

The several villages near Hathambar (also called Adambar) are connected to episodes in the Ramayana. Adambar is a village near Kumbakonam in the Nannilam Route.  Here Main deities are Ramar, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman with Deer  ( Mareechan the Rakshasa he who is in the form of Deer).  Valangaiman , Padagacheri, Kollumangudi, Nallamangudi, Adambar, Thatakanthapuram are the villages related to the episode Ramayana.  Rama decides to kill the deer after knowing who it is Hathambar or Adambar,  and the deer is killed at Kollumangudi. Sita sights the beautiful deer at Nallamangudi.  The deer goes in the right hand side is Valangaiman and the ornament Padam was dropped by Sita is Padagacheri and when Thataka was chased by Rama she hid herself here but the prince killed her in the place of Thatakanthapuram and so on.

Gunaseelam vishnu temple

Gunaseelam is located on the banks of river Cauvery near Tiruchy.  The main deity is Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal. On his way back from  Himalayas,  Gunaseela Rishi stayed back at Tirupathi and was so attracted to Lord Venkatachalapathy that he wanted the Lord to appear in Gunaseelam and bless the devotees.  According to his request , the Tirupathi perumal came here and bless the devotees.  One of the special features of the Gunaseelam temple is to cure people from all kinds of diseases. Guna-seelam means place for cure the diseases. Since Tirupathi Lord himself appeared before Gunaseela Maharishi, it is believed that those who are not able to go to Tirupathi can visit Gunaseelam and all their wishes are said to be fulfilled here.  Temple Timing  is 830am-1pm, 4pm-830pm

Kalyanapuram Srinivasa Perumal

Kalyanapuram is situated near Thiruvaiyaru in the bank of River Cauvery.  It is believed to be the Abhimana Sthalam of Tirukandiyur Harasapa Vinochana Perumal. The presiding deity is Lord Srinivasa and His consort is Alamelu Mangai Thayar. The principal deity, Lord Srinivasa is said to have been brought from Thirumala and installed hundreds of years ago.  Apart from the celebrations of various uthsavams, prarthanai Garudasevai is also a unique feature in this temple. Lord Srinivasa along with Alarmelmangai Thayar fulfill the wishes of his bakthas and celebrate the fulfillment of their wishes by conducting the Garuda Sevai to offer their gratitude to him.
